Oldham Athletic are delighted to announce that Mathew Hudson has signed a new contract with the club.
Mat’s new deal will keep him at Boundary Park until 2025.
The 24-year-old joined Latics from Buxton in December, having spent seven years with Preston North End.
After number 1, Magnus Norman, picked up a knock in training, Mat was called into action for four games at the end of March.
Manager, David Unsworth, had nothing but praise for the shot stopper, and thinks of him as more than a backup goalkeeper.
“Mat came in during last season, and immediately I could tell he’s a fantastic professional.
“He made the department stronger, and really I don't see him as the number two and Magnus as the number one, I see both of them as number ones.
“Both of them get on really well. Steve Collis has done a fantastic job with them, and I’m happy with where that department is going forward.
Mat is very much part of our plans for the future going forward.”

The sentiment of the manager was echoed by Mat, who wants to kick on, from a personal and team point of view.
“Playing in a few games last season when Magnus was injured was a great feeling.
“When you play for a club as big as Oldham, with the fanbase it has, it makes you want to play as many games as you can.
“Me and Magnus have a really good relationship, and we have an amazing goalkeeping coach in Steve Collis, who pushes us every day. We’re lucky to have someone like that.
“The manager mentioned that finishing last season strongly was important, and we did that. That gives us confidence for when we come back in pre-season that we can hit the ground running.”
