Latics look at trialist striker
Latics will take a close look at trialist striker Jose Baxter in today's reserve-team match against Hartlepool United at Chapel Road, kick off 2pm.The former Everton player (pictured), who is their youngest first-team footballer, is on trial having in the summer rejected the offer of a new two-year deal from the Toffees.
Baxter left in pursuit of regular first-team football and today gets his chance to shine with Latics.
Latics have a second trialist on view, midfield man Eddie Nelson, who is also a free agent and who played in the last reserve-team match against Shrewsbury Town.
The starting line up this afternoon includes four trainees with the most senior players on view young professionals Daniel Taylor, David Mellor and Connor Hughes.
