Young striker agrees two-year deal

Latics have signed Cristian Montano from West Ham United on a two-year contract.

They are hoping the 20-year-old, who has the option to stay at Boundary Park for a third year, will be registered in time to make his debut in tomorrow's opening npower League One game at Milton Keynes Dons.

The paperwork was submitted before the noon deadline for eligibility to play tomorrow.

Montano, who can play as a striker or out wide, has impressed during trials at Boundary Park.

Born in Colombia, Montano moved to London as a child and holds dual nationality, though hie has pledged any future international career to the South American nation.

Montano joined West Ham as an under-12 player and signed his first professional contract in 2010.

Last season Montano had two loan spells at Notts County and one apiece at Swindon Town, Dagenham and Oxford United. He made a total of 39 appearances scoring 10 goals.
