Latics have been drawn away to Chesterfield in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
It is a repeat of last season when the two teams met in the Northern Area Final when the Spireites triumphed over two legs.
The match at the B2net Stadium will take place in the week commencing Monday, September 3rd.
