Robbie Simpson was recalled by Latics for this afternoon's npower League One match at Crawley Town.
The player to stand down was captain Dean Furman as the midfielder lost his place in the starting line up.
Simpson for Furman was the one change to the side which kicked off in midweek at Carlisle where they lost 3-1.
Crawley, with six wins from their last seven games, made one change from their midweek win against MK Dons as Mike Jones replaced the Dannie Bulman in midfield.
Bulman picked up a knock in midweek and stepped down to the bench.
