Latics sign Reid

Midfield man completes loan move

Latics have completed the signing of Bobby Reid on a youth loan from Bristol City for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old midfield man will have the squad number 22.

Reid has made five first-team appearances for npower Championship club City, all of which were as a substitute, with four in the current campaign.

He is no stranger to Latics’ manager Lee Johnson who was a team mate at City.

Reid, who has been at City since the age of seven, said: "The gaffer was at Bristol City when I was starting out and knows about me.

"It has reached the stage of my career when I need to be playing games and getting experience which is why I am happy to be here."

City have an abundance of midfield players including former Latics’ loanee Neil Kilkenny which is why his chances have been restricted.

Reid had a loan spell at Cheltenham Town last season, but the team was flying high at the time so it was frustrating as he managed only one substitute appearance.

"I think I only played about five minutes during my month at the club," he recalled.

Reid is a central midfield player, but can play anywhere across the middle and he describes himself as a creative player who likes to pick out a pass.

Keep logging on to see what Lee Johnson has to say about his new signing who he is pictured welcoming to Boundary Park.
