Latics sign striker

Clarke-Harris captured from Posh

Latics have completed their first summer signing, Peterborough United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old has agreed a 12-month contract subject to Football League and Football Association approval with Latics having an option for a second year.

The 6ft 2in Clarke-Harris became the youngest player to appear for Coventry City at 16 years and 20 days when he appeared for the Sky Blues against Morecambe in the Carling Cup in August 2010.

After not being offered a pro contract by Coventry, Clarke-Harris signed a two-year deal at Peterborough United in July 2012.

Clarke-Harris has not made a first-team appearance for Posh in the campaign just ended in which he had loan spells at Southend United and Bury.

One of Clarke-Harris’ four starts for Bury was against Latics last month at Gigg Lane where he caught the eye of Latics' manager Lee Johnson. He also made eight substitute appearances for the Shakers for whom he scored four goals.

For an exclusive interview with Clarke-Harris, who is being pictured being welcomed to Boundary Park by Johnson, and to see what Latics' manager has to say about his new signing, keep logging on to the official website.
