Manager believes Anton will be hit
Lee Johnson has been been impressed by the appetite shown in training by new-signing Anton Rodgers.Latics manager had the 20-year-old midfield man on trial before he was offered a one-year contract.
"I had a good look at Anton before we signed him and he is hungry and keen to get a foot on the football map," said Johnson.
Johnson believes Rodgers is the type of player who can easily slip under the radar.
He explained: "Anton is a player who possibly will go unnoticed to fans, but football people will appreciate what he does for the team.
"He has a very good football brain and is a neat and tidy player.
"He is the sort of player who will get a team ticking and is a pivot as he keeps the ball, tidies up and his passes set up forward players."
Rodgers, who had been on the books of Chelsea and Brighton, has signed a one-year contract with Latics having an option to extend it for 12 months beyond that.
