Philliskirk signs two-year contract
Danny Philliskirk has signed a two-year contract with Latics to the delight of Lee Johnson.Latics' manager has been impressed with the attitude and ability of the 22-year-old (pictured) who has been on non-contract forms since arriving at Boundary Park earlier this month.
Johnson said: "Danny has done really well since he arrived. He is technically very good and an excellent finisher.
"He needs to become a man in his personality on the pitch and, if we can get that into his game, he can become a top player and back to where he was as a youngster.
"Danny provides us with another attacking option - we have lots of them - and I believe this side will score goals whoever plays up front."
It is a case of Philliskirk's career turning full circle as he is back at Boundary Park where his career began as a trainee.
He was bought by Chelsea in 2007 and had four years at Stamford Bridge followed by almost two at Sheffield United and s short spell at Coventry City.
Philliskirk had spent most of pre-season training at Doncaster Rovers before coming on trial to Latics where his father Tony is Academy Manager.
Latics have an option to extend the contract for a third year.
