Philliskirk on his cup night

Danny Philliskirk was unhappy with his night, even though he scored Latics' opening goal in their 2-1 win at Wolves in the FA Cup with Budweiser, first-round replay.

"It was nice to get another goal, but it ought to have been four," explained the 22-year-old striker.

Philliskirk (pictured) believes he ought to have done better.

He explained: "I hit the post and then there were two occasions when I was clean through.

"I will punish myself for not taking those chances and go home angry I didn't get a hat trick.

"It was nice to win, though, and to score and contribute to the victory."

Philliskirk's goal was his seventh of the season as he remains Latics's leading marksman.

He says it is a measure of the confidence manager Lee Johnson has instilled in the team that they were able to go to a club as huge as Wolves and play with no fear.

Philliskirk explained: "It was a Premier League stadium not so long ago and it was brilliant for the lads to play somewhere like this.

"Hopefully we can take this form into Saturday's important league game at Gillingham on Saturday."
