Lee Johnson Previews Rotherham United

10 March 2014

Latics boss Lee Johnson believes tomorrow's clash with Rotherham United will be a tough encounter but only wants to concentrate on his team.

Speaking to Latics Player, the manager said: "All games are tough in this division. We've got 11 more games to play and we've got a group of players who I know can get wins. We start with a tough one against Rotherham but one we're looking forward to.

"We were unfortunate the last time we played them. They are a powerful unit but we've got to concentrate on ourselves in this game. We're at home and we're going to start right on the front foot."

With Saturday's defeat to Preston North End still fresh in the mind, Johnson reflected on that defeat.

"On review of the video, I don't think it was as bad as I thought it was," the gaffer admitted. "In the second half, their goalkeeper was probably man of the match as he pulled off some fantastic saves. We just didn't get going first half.

"We are still in a better position than five or six other teams around us. I thought the fans were brilliant the other day and the atmosphere was good so I thank them for that."

Rhys Turner made his debut for Latics on Saturday, coming on for Charlie MacDonald and the youngster will be looking to play more of a role in Tuesday's game. With Jonson Clarke-Harris suspended for the game, the manager faces a selection dilemma but wouldn't be frightened to include the 18-year-old.

"Rhys has done well since joining the club," expressed the 32-year-old. "He's only young but he's certainly got some confidence in his own ability and I've enjoyed working with him so far. He's obviously got things he needs to work on but he's got the right attitude and wants to learn."
