Johnson: "It Was Fantastic Support"

6 April 2014

Lee Johnson heaped huge praise on the 1,322 travelling Latics supporters that made the trip to Bradford for yesterday's 3-2 victory.

James Wesolowski's opener and a double from striker Jonson Clarke-Harris sent the huge travelling contingent home delighted and the manager spoke highly of them.

He said: "It was fantastic support and very much appreciated. I'm delighted that the lads have given them a smile on their face for the next couple of weeks."

Speaking about the game itself, the gaffer gave his overall assessment, believing it was a massive victory for Latics' fight to stay in the division.

"It was always going to be a tough game but I'm delighted we've won the game today. I'm glad we got three goals today because we put in a good performance We defended well despite giving away the two goals," Johnson admitted.

"I'm content that we got the three points as I'm mindful that we're not playing next week. Results went against us as the teams below us picked up points but we can look forward now and see how high we can finish."

Clarke-Harris' double was his first and second in 2014, taking his total to eight for the season and his performance pleased the manager.

"I'm delighted for Clarke-Harris scoring his two goals and for Wesolowski as well because it was a nice, tidy finish," said the 32-year-old.

"I'm pleased for Jonno because he's worked hard over the last couple of games without getting a goal but today he has two so I'm delighted for him."

With only five games of the season remaining, Johnson has set his sights for the rest of the campaign. "We've got to stay concentrated because we know nothing is done yet," the gaffer continued. "We've got to keep looking forward and the lads now want to stay unbeaten until the end of the season and that's the challenge."
