Latics boss Lee Johnson faced the media for the final time this season ahead of Saturday's encounter with relegation-threatened Notts County.
With the Magpies still needing a point for survival, the manager is wary of the threat they will pose to his Oldham Athletic side.
Wins for Tranmere and Crewe could put County in danger of relegation and Johnson believes Shaun Derry's players will be up for the battle, but it is up to his players to keep the unbeaten run going into next season.
He said: "It will be a tough game. You can play teams at the right time and the wrong time and at the moment they have got their best available group out and it's a good group.
"Shaun is a decent fella and he's found his feet there. He's galvanised them and fair play to him and the club for that. They've done a good job and it's up to us to go and win the game.
"We'll be ruthless in that respect. The lads definitely want to win the game because they like the big atmospheres. We want these big games and we want the big atmosphere experience.
"They've had a great run recently. They've lost 24 games this season so for a team that has lost that many to still be in with a chance of staying up is not bad going because it means they have won a lot as well."
Reflecting on Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, the gaffer was pleased with the attitude of his players, despite both sides having nothing to play for.
"I was pleased with our group of players. We went into that game knowing it will be difficult and I thought it was a good game," added the boss.
"It wasn't played like an end of season game and there was a lot of commitment from both sides. We had some good chances in the match."
The game on Saturday brings down the curtain on what has been a season of mixed emotions for Johnson but he admits to learning a lot in his full year in management.
"I'm happy with that position looking back at recent times. I'm not going to say it's a success because it's not in my eyes.
"I've been disappointed at times during the season but this particular purple patch we've been in over the last month has been excellent. The pressure has eased and the relegations have been put to bed," continued the 32-year-old.
"We've had some great ups this year with Liverpool, Mansfield and Peterborough but we've had some disappointing times where we've played well but not won and that's probably been the most frustrating part for me. It's been a very good year for me personally and I'm learning all the time."
