Oldham Athletic Football Club will welcome an inspirational young boy to SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow as Latics face Huddersfield Town in a pre-season friendly.
Two-year-old Leo Stott will lead the teams out and be treated to a full mascot experience as a special guest of the football club.Leo has a disability called spastic diaplega cerebral palsy. He was diagnosed at the age of one and since then has been working extremely hard in his physiotherapy sessions to gain a lot of strength to be able to be accepted for a surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy.
Leo has now been accepted for the surgery at Leeds hospital but £45,000 needs to be raised for the surgery and also for the intensive private physiotherapy sessions and specialist equipment he will after the surgery has been done.
Cara Oldham, Leo's mother, said: "Leo has nothing wrong with him mentally so he's at that age where he wants to do everything on his own but he physically can't do it and he's getting frustrated.
"Having this operation will cancel out all the stress he gets and it would really make his life so much better. Leo also gets pain in his legs and knees and this will get rid of all that pain.
"After the operation he will get a better quality of life and as his mother, that's all I want."
Bucket collectors will be on the turnstiles and walking around the stadium as the football club help to make Leo's dream of walking a reality.
