Manager Lee Johnson saluted the 288 Oldham Athletic supporters that made the trip to Wiltshire to see his side draw 2-2 with a strong Swindon Town side.
The supporters were treated to a goal of the season contender from winger James Dayton in the first half but Latics were quickly pegged back as Jonathan Obika equalised.Andy Williams put the Robins ahead but Amari Morgan-Smith popped up at the back post to prod home a leveller which sent the supporters home happy with a point.
Johnson said: "I thought our fans were absolutely superb tonight and I thank them because they didn't just drive the players on, they drove me on on the touchline in what was a tough game. I'm delighted for them and I hope they turn out like that at Notts County."
Speaking about the performance, the gaffer felt his side were poor in the first half but was quick to praise the spirit of the side to come back out and perform in the second. Johnson also reserved comment for Dayton's goal.
"It was a world-class strike in my opinion. It was a great piece of individual brilliance and I think we needed it because we were poor in the first half," the boss commented.
"Swindon were a good side so I'm taking nothing away from them but we weren't doing what we usually do to other teams. I was disappointed going into the break and I told them that. I asked for more energy and positive play and second half we really showed that.
"I was pleased with the spirit today and that was the biggest thing. It could have been a difficult day if we went out in the second half playing like we did in the first but we pegged them back for a good 25 minutes."
The manager praised the character of Morgan-Smith after admitting the forward was at fault for the second goal but popped up to equalise in the final minutes of the game.
"Amari is a good player and he gets in very good areas. He's a good footballer, strong and powerful but he does have to switch on tactically at our level," said the 33-year-old.
"It's a massive difference at our level because you must stay focused against good sides like Swindon and he got done on their second goal, however I have to pat him on the back for his fantastic switch of mindset and to get a goal shows good character."
