David Mellor scored the only goal of the game as his Alfreton Town side beat Nuneaton Town 1-0 at the Impact Arena.
The 21-year-old put in a man of the match performance to take his side out of the bottom four in the Vanarama Conference.Speaking after the game, Alfreton manager Nicky Law reserved special praise for the loanee.
He said: "I am pleased for David. He is finding his feet. He hasn’t played a lot of football. He had an operation pre-season. He has come back, these reserve teams do not play a lot of football. To be fair, I have said to him after the game that he always looks like he is blowing and then he has got a bit more and he comes again.
"You can see when he gets the ball on that left-hand side and goes past people and you know when he does go past people it is quality coming into the box. He is a very, very good player."
