Latics assistant manager Tommy Wright was left frustrated with Saturday's result against Notts County, admitting Latics should have gained all three points.
Conor Wilkinson had Latics' best opportunity of the game in the final minutes of the game and the number two admitted his side are lacking sharpness in front of goal.He said: "There were a lot of pleasing things and I thought we dominated the first half but the most vital component of football is putting the ball in the back of the net. We are on the right tracks and we did well against a strong Notts County side. The back four looked very solid limiting them to little chances but we are frustrated at the moment.
"We are lacking that extra bit of brilliance around the box at the moment but I thought Conor Wilkinson had a great debut. He linked bits up and had two good efforts. We just lacked that little bit of killer instinct around the box and if we are going to acheive anything this season, we need to get that."
The referee was at the centre of two major talking points during the game as he booked two players for diving."I don't think either were penalties," stated Wright.
"Apparently Conor stood on the ball and fell over and I thought County's was worse because it was a block tackle and he booked the player. It's frustrating because those bookings add up and for teams with small squads like both sides, it can make a big difference."
