Forte Set To Face Former Club

26 September 2014

Latics' top goalscorer Jonathan Forte faces his former Scunthorpe United side tomorrow and is looking to get one over on his past employers.

The forward has scored five goals so far this season and made his comeback in last week's 0-0 draw with Notts County after missing two games.

After making over 100 appearances for the Iron, Forte is looking forward to playing his former club.

He said: "I was there for three and a half years and I'm looking forward to it. I know three or four of their players so it will be good to face them.

"It's a step up for them to come up to League One but they are doing alright now and they will want to win the game. We want to win the game on Saturday."

The 28-year-old has recently returned from a thigh injury which ruled him out for a couple of weeks but is keen to get back into the swing of things.

"I trained once on the Friday last week and felt fine for the game," explained the forward. "You want to train every day but sometimes that is not possible. If you do not train then it is probably going to affect you more on the Saturday."
