GB Amputee Players Visit OAFC

26 September 2014

The Great Britain Amputee team stopped by at the football club today, offering their knowledge and sharing stories to the Oldham Athletic youth team.

Goalkeeper Anthony Mitchell, David Tweed and Martin Heald joined in with a youth team training session as the players prepare for the Amputee World Cup in November.

Pete Wild, who is the lead phase coach at Oldham Athletic, also manages the GB Amputee side and he believes it is good for the youngsters to learn from players who have overcome the odds to get where they are.

He said: "It was great for the amputee lads to come in to give the youth team inspiration that anything is possible. There are no boundaries to success and it is an awareness to give them a more rounded education in their football lives."

The GB Amputee side fly out to Mexico on November 26 as they take part in the 2014 Amputee World Cup.
