Oldham Athletic Player Visit

10 October 2014

Oldham Athletic club captain Adam Lockwood and Rhys Turner visited Royton Hall Primary School yesterday to support the schools programme currently being delivered by Community Trust.

The visit saw the pair spend time with both of the year two classes at the school, who each week have been taking part in futsal sessions delivered by the Community Trust coaches.

Adam and Rhys spent 30 minutes with each class with the youngsters eager to learn more about the pair and what it is like to be a professional footballer. After the questions the children had a chance to get an autograph from the players to take home with them. The children in one class had an extra special treat as Adam and Rhys stayed a little longer to read them a story before departing.

The visit was a part of the Community Trust`s schools programme and was the first visit of the new school year. Every Monday for the past five weeks, the children in year two have benefitted from expert futsal coaching during their PE lessons. Per week the Community Trust`s schools programme works with over 500 children in a variety of different projects and schools.

The visit was the first of many planned for the year as the Community Trust team continue to deliver their schools programme around the borough to both primary and secondary schools.
