Banks: “It Was An Easy Decision To Come Here.”

20 July 2016

New signing Ollie Banks revealed manager Steve Robinson was a big influence behind his move to Oldham Athletic.

Banks signed on a two-year contract yesterday following his release from fellow Sky Bet League One side Chesterfield.

With a lot of experience under his belt, the 23-year-old admitted it was the manager’s style of play which attracted him to the club.

He said: “Everyone speaks very highly of the gaffer and it was an easy decision to make to come here.

“I had three years at Chesterfield and played around 100 games so it was good but I’m very happy to be here now."

The former FC United of Manchester man was thrown straight into the action yesterday as he played 45 minutes against Preston North End.

Banks had only met his teammates three hours previous and admitted: "Everyone is working me out at the minute.

“They all seem like good lads and they’ve introduced themselves to me and made me feel welcome."

Millwall away is the first fixture of the 2016/17 season and the midfielder is excited to get going now.

“They are a tough side and a good side and it’s a hostile place to go but I think everyone will enjoy that,” he said.

“I know what is in the league, it’s tough but there is a chance to be successful I think.”
