Erwin Looking To Hit The Ground Running

10 July 2016

Striker Lee Erwin is looking to hit the ground running after signing on a year-long loan from Championship side Leeds United.

Erwin joined the club yesterday, rejoining manager Steve Robinson who he knows from his time with Scottish Premier League side Motherwell.

Speaking about how his move came about, Erwin said: “I found out about the interest from Oldham Athletic on Tuesday and then I completed the move soon after so I’m happy it’s finally done.”

The Leeds United striker has notched 14 goals in 66 career appearances and he explained what Latics fans can expect from him next season.

“I like to come short, run in behind and I can be a target man for the rest of the team,” he admitted.

“I’ve set myself a goals tally in my head but I won’t be telling you what that is.”

The 21-year-old already has experience in Sky Bet League One as he spent a period on loan with Bury last season.

He did not manage to score for the Shakers but explains that the difference between the Scottish Premier League and League One is slight.

“I think the standard between the Scottish Premier League and League One is very similar.

“I was only on loan at Bury last season for a couple of games and I saw it was about the same standard.

“I just can’t wait to get out on the pitch and show the fans what I can do.”
