Kevin Friend will be the man in charge of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game against local rivals Rochdale.
In his 29 games in charge this season, Friend has handed out 114 yellow cards and two reds.
Friend, who has mainly officiated in the Premier League this season, last officiated Latics in 0-2 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in 2011.
Edward Smart and Adrian Holmes will assist the referee whilst Andy Haines will be Saturday’s fourth official.
