Manager Stephen Robinson admitted yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Bradford City was a good result but was disappointed not to hold onto all three points.
Peter Clarke headed Latics into an early lead, however they were pegged back in the second half after Billy Clarke converted a spot kick.
Speaking after the game, Robinson said: "It’s a great point away from home. Bradford are a big club in this division and are big spenders.
“They are probably the best team we have played so far this season, they have really good technical players and the crowd have a big influence on the game as well.
“It’s a terrific point but we are disappointed not to come away with three, not in terms of the balance of play, they had a lot of possession but I didn’t think we were going to concede.
“We looked very solid and organised but we would have probably taken a point at the start of the game.
"We worked on the free kick in training and it came off. Peter has had a couple of chances that he has been disappointed with.
"We have worked on a number of set pieces and we know if the delivery is right then Peter will attack the ball. His great header gave us a foothold in the game.”
Latics felt they should have been awarded a penalty in the first half as Billy Mckay was fouled in the penalty area, whilst the referee did award a spot kick to the home side.
Ousmane Fane was adjudged to have fouled Josh Cullen but Robinson would not be drawn to comment on the incident.
“Referees have got the hardest job in the world but I do think the key decisions went against us, if I’m being honest,” he admitted.
“The penalty he did give, I will leave that up to other people’s opinions but they have a tough job.”
Bradford’s equalising penalty meant Latics are still yet to concede a goal from open play in the league this season and further shows how his side are well organised all over the pitch.
"We’re not conceding many goals. We have players who throw their bodies on the line and run themselves into the ground,” he said.
“Fans come to watch football matches and ask for one thing, that the players give passion and desire and I don’t think anyone can have any complaints with this squad."
