Robinson Looking To Record Back-To-Back League Wins

26 August 2016

Manager Stephen Robinson expects his side to recover from Tuesday night’s EFL Cup exit as he takes his side to Valley Parade to face Bradford City tomorrow afternoon.

Latics were defeated 2-0 midweek against Preston North End but go in search of back-to-back league wins against the Bantams this weekend.

He said: "Bradford are a big club at this level. They have big support and a big stadium so it’s a great game to be involved in and a great game for players to play in.

"We are going there without fear. I know Stuart McCall well and he will have them well drilled and organised.

"He watched us against Preston North End on Tuesday night and he was impressed with what he saw so they won’t be surprised because they know to expect a tough game but this is a game we are really looking forward to.”

A couple of players missed Tuesday night’s game against Preston and Robinson gave an update to their injury situations.

“Jamie Reckord will be very much touch and go as to whether he is available for the game but we are hopeful Billy Mckay will be fit again,” he commented.

The manager has made no secret of his desire to bring in another player before the end of the transfer window but may need to be patient to get his man.

“We are trying to bring in a new striker, that’s been well documented, but I don’t think they will be in before the weekend,” the gaffer admitted.

“We are hopeful that it will be done before Sunday or Monday but it’s not the only player we are looking at.

“We are looking at a couple of players that we feel may enhance the squad which have just become available so it’s something we are actively looking at.”

Whilst he is looking for player to bring into the club, he did reveal that a couple could be on their way out the door.

“We are currently negotiating with a couple of players to leave the club as well,” he said.

“We have put a squad together quickly and we’ve probably got too many players now.

“There are boys I feel need to leave the club and look for other clubs for better opportunity."
