Robinson: “We Don’t Fear Anyone In This League.”

21 October 2016

Manager Stephen Robinson wants to capitalise on Tuesday’s impressive win and take the performance into tomorrow’s game against Bristol Rovers.

Goals from Lee Erwin and Freddie Ladapo saw Latics topple the league leaders on Tuesday night and the manager knows the importance of keeping this run going.

Speaking about tomorrow’s opponents Bristol Rovers, he said: "They have scored a lot of goals. I think almost 50% of their goals have come from set plays so we have to be aware of that.

“We have said to them that if you don’t concede from set plays and hit the target more often then the losses and draws turn into wins which is what happened on Tuesday night.

"They are a strong team, they are organised and they are bright. From what we have seen they have got one of the in form players in the league with the boy Taylor up top so we have to be aware of that.

“If we play to our capabilities then we don’t fear anybody in this league and we hope to carry on our run of form.”

With three wins out of four games, Robinson’s men are full of confidence and he admitted there is a good atmosphere around the club at the moment.

“A win lifts everyone from the staff to the players and even the staff who work in the background of the club which nobody sees,” he commented.

"It makes the week a lot easier and everyone comes to work with smiles on their faces. It builds confidence and makes everyone look forward to Saturday.

A win could take Latics out of the bottom four tomorrow and within touching distance of the play-offs, which sums up how tight the division is.

“I don’t think we have played a game and thought a team has battered us,” he said.

“Some teams have got big name players and bigger squads but we’ve not been put to the sword by anybody.

“Bradford was the least possession we had but they are showing why they are up there.

“There is nothing in this division and if you put a run together, there is six points between us and the play-offs so you have to keep looking up."
