Oldham Athletic youth team could go top of the Youth Alliance league tomorrow with a win against Grimsby Town.
Tony Philliskirk’s men make the trip to the Mariners and know victory takes them to the summit of the division.
Athletic are currently on a nine game winning streak but Philliskirk knows it will be a tough game against Grimsby.
He said: “We played them last week which was a rearranged game and we beat them 4-1.
"I’ve got to be honest, it shouldn’t have been 4-1, the game was much closer than that. Since Neil Wood left Walsall to go to Grimsby, they have improved massively.
“It was a tough game against them so we go there under no illusions that it is a game on paper we should win but it will be a tough one.
"It’s a long journey down but if we apply ourselves and continue playing the way we are then we will give anybody a game.
“The lads have got the bit between their teeth and we’ve put ourselves in a position where we can have a go for the league, and that’s what we are going to do."
