Callum Scullion Injury Shocker

21 July 2015

Second year scholar Callum Scullion has been ruled out for 12 months due to a serious knee injury.

The youngster was part of the successful youth team side last season which lifted the Youth Alliance Cup last season, beating MK Dons 4-0 in the final.

Youth team manager Tony Philliskirk explained: "Callum went on holiday with his friends and has had an accident where he has damaged his knee. He's come back to see a specialist and unfortunately it is really bad news.

"He has a serious knee injury which has already been operated on and he has virtually had a reconstruction of his left knee. Callum finished last season very promising but he will not play again this season.

"We have proposed to suspend his scholarship for a year. We are in talks with his parents, League Football Education and the authorities at the moment which means this season is a write-off for him but in 12 months he will come back still registered as a scholar and do his second year even though he's a year older.

"Within the time, he will still go to college, do his work and mix with the lads during his rehabilitation. It is disappointing for him and ourselves but we have to look at the positives and try and help the lad."
