Draw Dampens First Goal States Croft

30 August 2015

Winger Lee Croft was delighted to open his account for the season but was disappointed not to come away with the three points on Saturday.

The winger met a cross from Joseph Mills on 24 minutes, volleying past goalkeeper Rob Lainton in the Bury goal and he hopes that will give him the confidence to notch more.

He said: "It’s the first time I’ve scored one in a while. When I was at Norwich, I got one and then went on to score six that year so now I have the first one, I can go on and get some more for the club.

“It was nice to score but it’s a dampener on it that we haven’t come away with the win.”

Although Latics maintained their five-match unbeaten start to the season, the 30-year-old admitted it felt like a defeat after not picking up all three points.

"We are coming away from these games, getting ourselves in front but we are coming away disappointed that we aren’t getting the three points. I suppose we will take the positives from it.

“We are still unbeaten in the league and it’s a good sign that we are coming away from games disappointed that we are not getting the three points.

“It shows the ambition the lads are that we haven’t got the other two points on the board.”
