Croft: “All The Lads Are Looking Forward To The Game.”

28 August 2015

Winger Lee Croft believes confidence in the dressing room is high ahead of tomorrow’s local derby with Bury.

The 30-year-old will be part of the travelling squad making the short trip to Gigg Lane on Saturday and he is excited to be backed by an army of Oldham Athletic supporters.

He said: All the lads are looking forward to the game. It’s a local derby and hopefully we will have a big following. We can’t wait and hopefully we can get that win away from home.

“It’s like the game against Walsall on the opening day where we had 1,000 supporters, it gives the lads such a lift. I’m sure when we see them all there on Saturday it will spur us on and hopefully we will put on a good performance for them and get a positive result from the game.”

Although Latics are unbeaten in the league this season, Croft believes they maybe could have more points from their opening four games.

“We are unbeaten, yes, but it’s a good sign that we are disappointed to come away from the away games with Colchester with only a draw,” he commented.

"We felt like we should have won that game, and we felt like we should have won the game on Saturday when we went a goal up. That felt like a loss for us as well.”

One player that will be missing tomorrow afternoon is the skipper, Liam Kelly. “Kells will be a big miss,” Croft admitted. “We all know what he brings to the side but we know whoever steps in can do a job.

“There is competition for places in all areas of the pitch, especially when all the lads are fit so it’s a good thing for the club and you have to be on the top of your game each week."
