Dunn Accepts Fans’ Frustrations But Looking To Put It Right This Weekend

26 November 2015

Manager David Dunn completely understands fans’ frustrations as he prepares his side to face Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Tuesday’s loss to Southend United was his fourth defeat in charge of the club, with all of those coming at SportsDirect.com Park and the manager has sympathy for the supporters.

He said: “If I was paying my season ticket money and paying to watch every week, getting wet through and sitting in the cold then I’d want to see my team do better at home, especially if we are doing well away from home.

“It would be frustrating and I am as frustrated as them. It’s up to myself, the coaching staff and the players that when they go onto that pitch then they can’t take too much of it in. You have to be man enough to go out there and perform better.

"Only 10 days ago we were sitting on the back of two back to back wins and it was certainly rosier than what it has been this week. I can understand everyones frustrations with the way we start games at the moment and that’s no different to myself.”

Dunn is keen to eradicate the problems instantly, and feels January is too long to be waiting to put the problems right, when the transfer window opens.

"I think it’s important we fix the problems that we have now. If that happens in four, five, six weeks then great, but at this moment in time, it’s important we look after what we are doing and not focus too much on the future. We need to identify the problems now and fix them.”

A win on Saturday should move Latics out of the relegation spots, should results go their way. “We’ve got a really big fixture this weekend at Crewe and we need to get a win and then we go to Sheffield United in the cup.

"That gives us a break from the league and hopefully we can kick on. The inconsistency we are showing at the minute is the reason we are where we are.”
