Dunn Delighted To Take On Managerial Reigns

8 October 2015

Manager David Dunn described being appointed as Oldham Athletic’s permanent manager as a proud moment.

The 35-year-old has been in interim charge of the football club since September 13 and has overseen the club’s last four fixtures.

All four have ended in a score draw but performances have improved under his stewardship.

Speaking about his appointment, Dunn said: "I’m delighted for the opportunity the club has given me. I was still a player at the start of the season and I’m lucky enough to be given this opportunity and it’s something I’m really proud of.

"I’m happy with how things have gone and I’m looking forward to my future with the club. I’m really excited about it and hopefully we can put the smiles back on the supporters of the club.”

Up until his appointment as interim manager, Dunn had appeared in every league game and he insists he is not hanging up his boots just yet.

“There is still a possibility of me playing and it’s something I’ve not given up on,” he admitted.

“It was important that I got everything sorted first in terms of the solidity are our team which I think we’ve got over the last couple of weeks.”

Asked whether he had scope to add to his squad, Dunn responded: “We are always looking to strengthen.

"One thing we won’t be doing is bringing players for the sake of it. They have to be players that can help us.”
