Dunn: "I Am Still Hungry To Play & Prove Myself."

30 July 2015

New signing David Dunn is excited by his new challenge and believes he still has a lot to give as a player.

The experienced midfielder signed a one-year contract with Latics this morning joining on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers.

Dunn, who has one senior England appearance under his belt, will join a midfield of Liam Kelly, Mike Jones, Lee Croft, Carl Winchester and George Green and he is excited to get started.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to joining up with the rest of the lads and putting my boots back on.

"I've been fortunate enough to watch a few games during pre-season so there is a lot of good, young players so hopefully with my experience I can bring them on as well. From what I've seen so far, we seem to pass the ball really well and I'm sure I can fit into that really well.

"Hopefully I can chip in the assists and some goals as well. I've got a good record and I've scored a lot of goals from midfield in the past so we'll see what happens.

"I need to a bit of fitness work in the next few weeks but then I'll crack on and start showing the fans what I'm all about."

After playing the majority of his career at the highest level, Dunn drops down to the third tier of English football for the first time as a player.

"I've tended to watch a lot of League One and League Two over the last couple of years. I've played at the top level for a number of years but I'm looking forward to the challenge," continued the 35-year-old.

"People have told me that I shouldn't have dropped down but whilst I am still hungry to play and prove myself I'm really looking forward to doing that."
