Glackin Quadruple Inspires Young Latics To Victory

28 September 2015

Irish striker Brendy Glackin notched an impressive four goals in the youth team’s 5-0 away victory over Notts County on Saturday.

The first year prospect was sharp in the box, netting two in either half with fellow striker James Sloane rounding off the rout.

Glackin gave Tony Philliskirk’s men an early lead latching on to a loose back pass and he confidently struck past the onrushing goalkeeper.

Midway through the half, Glackin doubled the lead, netting past the goalkeeper after a long through ball from fellow Irishman Dylan King.

Glackin completed his hat trick early into the second half with a smart finish from the edge of the box.

Sloane netted the fourth whilst Glackin rounded off the scoring, netting the fifth, and his fourth, of the game.

Speaking about the game, Youth Development Phase Coach Pete Wild said: “Brendy stole the show with his four goals on Saturday.

“They were all strikers finishes in and around the box. His first was the pick of the lot for me, taking it early on the half volley and set the tone for his performance.

“Notts County fought hard throughout the game but on the day we were really good. We did the ugly side of the game very well and it’s something we were pleased with after the game.”
