Higdon Likens Partnership With Poleon To Former Premier League Pairing

9 October 2015

Sheffield United loanee Michael Higdon has likened his blossoming strike partnership with Dominic Poleon to a former lethal Premier League pairing.

The striker has netted three goals from his first three games at the club since signing on loan last month.

He has also contributed an assist to Poleon against Gillingham last weekend and he believes the partnership is similar to the Blackburn pair who bagged 49 goals between them to win Rovers the Premier League title in 1995.

Higdon said: “I’ve set him up and he’s set me up so we keep saying we are like Sutton and Shearer in training so long may it continue.

"Dom is a good player. He is very quick and I need him in and around me. We have linked up quite well over the last few weeks.”

The 32-year-old, who has netted over 100 goals in his career, has settled well into life at the club.

“It’s been a good start for myself,” he admitted. "When you come to a new club you want this type of start and I’m delighted with how it has gone so far.

“You want to come in and score goals and it’s gone well for me so far so if I can carry on helping the team then that’s great.

"Confidence is high with myself and with the team also. The performance last week was excellent so if we take that into the game tomorrow, I don’t see why we can’t get the three points tomorrow.”
