JUNIOR TAKEOVER: Reegan’s Match Report

12 October 2015

As part of our junior takeover, 10-year-old Reegan Moss took over the club’s social media accounts for Saturday’s game with Scunthorpe United.

One of his tasks was to write a match report, which would be published on the club’s website and here it is:

Match report!!!!

The teams are out on the field ready for the whistle, Latics are kicking towards the TLH Auctioneers stand the first half.

Latics get us off to a good start, Dominic Poleon plays the ball through to Croft who just can’t latch on to the ball.

Croft then wins a throw in deep into the Scunthorpe territory. Poleon to Danny Philliskirk but Murray Wallace cuts out the ball denying Philliskirk a shot on goal.

OH Scunthorpe’s McSheffery crosses in the but Cornell tips the ball onto the post and SAVES it to my delight.

Not even a minute later Scunthorpe’s McSheffrey scores the first of the game. 0-1.

Scunthorpe might of scored, but Latics have played alright so far with Cornell making some fantastic saves.

Let’s hope LATICS score the next goal. And they did much to my delight.

25 min. GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

Poleon wins the ball wide, Philliskirk to strike and it’s blocked into the path of Kelly who shoots and scores. 1-1.

Two min later Lafferty takes a free kick and the ball breaks to Dominic Poleon. Six yards, he finishes!!!!!!! SUPERB!!!
27min.  2-1

The Latics atmosphere is electric the fans are going mad. I said that Dom would score today and he has. I was celebrating the goals like crazy, all we need is a couple more goals.

Cornell makes a great save to deny McSheffery from scoring, then Tommy Rowe takes it past Burn, shoots and a massive deflection takes it past Cornell. 2-2.

Connor Brown is booked for a late challenge.

4 mins added time, Lafferty’s corner is cleared from danger.

Half time. 2-2.

Second half kicks off.

Not much happening, Mark Yeates is warming up.

55 mins Lee Croft is replaced by Mark Yeates.

Latics seem to be picking up the heat now,We just need another goal for my 3-2 prediction.

Mike Jones tries his luck from 25 yards but it was saved.

The Oldham fans have not stopped singing this second half.

Upping the gear now Philliskirk plays to Brown he crosses (what a great cross) but was headed away by Scunthorpe.

Kelly crosses to Jones but it’s just ahead of the midfielder.

James Wilson with a quick one-two with Poleon and attempts to run back, but was stopped in his tracks.

Philliskirk fouled on the edge of the box and referee doesn’t give it (Latics fans not happy), Latics still attacking.

Cornell makes a good save but Madden converts the rebound from 12 yards. Goal to Scunthorpe. 2-3.

Scunthorpe sub, Sean McAllister to replace Garry McSheffery.

Oldham sub, Danny Philliskirk off for David Dunn.

Come on Oldham!!!!!

Tom Hopper is replaced by Kevin van even for Scunthorpe.

Liam Kelly tries from 25 yards a spectacular effort and wins the corner, David Dunn shoots 25yards out to put it just over the crossbar.

84 min: goal 2-4

Kevin Van Even takes it around three players and cooly chips it over Cornell.

Carl Winchester replaces Mike Jones

Full time: OLDHAM 2 v SCUNTHORPE 4

Unfortunately we didn’t win, but I have had the best time ever as webmaster and would like to thanks Oldham Athletic for giving me this opportunity. I would love to work for your club in the future.

My biggest thanks goes to Luke Ingram for showing me how to become a fantastic webmaster like yourself.

Thanks for my tie.

Love from
Reegan Moss

Oops I would like to say sorry to David Dunn for not returning his sharpie marker.
