Kelly: "I'm Excited To Get Started."

26 June 2015

Preparations are all in place for the players to return to training on Monday as manager Darren Kelly embarks on his first pre-season in charge of the club.

After being appointed on May 4, Kelly has had to wait nearly two months to get on the training ground with his players.

With testing planned for June 29 at the University of Bolton, the manager is excited to finally let the football do the talking.

He said: "The preparation and build up to pre-season is the exciting part but once that is all completed you just want the season to get going.

"We've been prepared for the last week and a half so the players will be back in on Monday and I'm excited to get started.

"On the first day of pre-season, we want to instil that confidence and belief to the players. We want them to believe when they cross that white line they will believe that they can achieve anything.

"If you play with a belief and desire to succeed, you can accomplish anything. We have to get that into the players from Monday and work with them so they can come here and achieve."

The players will spend a week in Scotland during the pre-season campaign, including a game against Stirling Albion on Friday, July 17.

"It's a great opportunity for the new players to blend and for me to get to know the players myself," he admitted.

"I'll get to see their personalities on and off the pitch and it will be an intense week away but a good enjoyable week."

With Lee Croft, George Green and Jake Cassidy all agreeing deals to join the club on July 1, the manager has given an update on further additions.

"We have had luck in the sense we have identified targets in those positions. There is a lot of dialogue that goes on with agents so it's trying to meet the players demands with regards to our demands.

"There is a lot of quality out there and it's just a waiting game to hear back from them.

"If we get the experienced centre back that we are talking about with a couple more then you could be talking two or three more players that we need.

"The thing that is fantastic is that I have a chairman who has been so supportive and fantastic on the phone, as have the directors. I speak to these guys nearly everyday and they are helping me with what I want to do.

"I have no doubt that if we get everybody, including the supporters, pulling in the right direction next season, we can get this sleeping giant waking again."
