Kelly: "I'm Ready For The Challenge."

6 May 2015

New manager Darren Kelly is relishing the challenge of his first managerial post after signing a two-year contract with the club.

Kelly, who was announced at the club's annual End of Season awards night, was the stand-out candidate for a list of over 100 applicants and he cannot wait to get started.

He said: "There are lots of things I want to do and want to implement and I want to get cracking with it straight away. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"There is a very good nucleus of a good team there. I want to get them into my style of play, change a few things up, make a few additions and I have absolutely no doubt that we can achieve something.

"I want to bring a creative, attacking style of play. I've got my own methods and my own philosophies on what I want to do. It's the end of the season, I've had a good chat with the players and I'm looking forward to knuckling down, working hard, bring players in, and really push the players to buy into what I want to achieve on the pitch.

"I can't thank Simon and the board enough for this tremendous opportunity at this fantastic football club and  I'm ready for the challenge."

The 35-year-old is no stranger to League One football having scouted for the majority of last season.

"I've been to a lot of League One games this season and I believe I know what it needs to get out of this division," explained Kelly.

"I'm looking forward to getting started, getting to know the players, the players getting to know me, trust what I do, believe in my philosophy and together we can march on and achieve good things."
