MATCH PREVIEW: Carlisle United v Oldham Athletic

31 July 2015

Oldham Athletic travel to Cumbria to face Carlisle United in the final pre-season friendly of the summer.

Darren Kelly has registered three wins from his five pre-season games this summer, beating Chester City, Stirling Albion and Halifax Town.

Rhys Turner grabbed his third goal of pre-season on Tuesday night before Brian Wilson rounded off the scoring for Latics in a 2-1 victory at the Shay Stadium.

During that game, Latics finished the game with five trailists, including Dutch winger Ryan Hiwat and central defenders Josh Thompson and Fraser Kerr.

The latter remains along with Hiwat whilst Thompson has been released to find football elsewhere.

Fellow central defender Gavin Gunning also remains on trial as he continues his fight to win a permanent contract with the club.

One player who is expected to return to the squad is forward Jake Cassidy.

The striker has been missing for the majority of pre-season with a calf injury but Cassidy has now recovered and is expected to get minutes under his belt this weekend.

Connor Brown will return to the side he spent time on loan with last season whilst a familiar face will be on the opposition side as Jabo Ibehre fronts Carlisle’s attack.

Kelly has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the game, with the start of the season only one week away.

Remember you can follow all the action tonight as Gordon and Roy provide commentary on Latics PlayerHD.
