New Board Member Appointed

28 November 2014

Oldham Athletic are delighted to announce Anthony Gee as an addition to the Board of Directors.

Gee is a successful entrepreneur, a calculated risk taker and a football fanatic. He is well known to Simon Corney having worked alongside him on various projects in different industries, mainly in the U.S. He graduated with honours from University with a Mathematics, Statistics and Business Degree.

Anthony began his working career in the city of London where he worked initially as a Stockbroker, before moving to structured equity derivatives, working in both Frankfurt and London.

He left the corporate world aged 29 to set up the UK’s first concierge/lifestyle management business; an industry that has now boomed to over a thousand companies. Gee sold the business 12 years later to a private equity house.

In 2007, Gee founded a football consultancy business which he still runs. The emphasis is on advising and assisting professional clubs and academies from South America, Eastern and Continental Europe.

Gee also manages a worldwide distribution company with product sales experience in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, Asia and South America.

He is also a main Board Director of an LED lighting start up business in the U.S. with ground breaking disruptive new LED technology. He is also an active property developer.

Gee has been a familiar face at Oldham Athletic over the last few years and has been actively following the team home and away.

He said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Board of Oldham Athletic. As a regular visitor over the last three or four years I am fully aware of the hugely prestigious history of the Latics and it’s standing in the game.

"Although I grew up supporting Arsenal, I remember standing in the away end behind the goal on many occasions in the 90’s and have witnessed my team getting absolutely battered by Andy Ritchie almost single handedly. I could never forget one particular night which was probably the coldest I have ever felt at a football match.

"Like many others, I believe the Premier League has become a giant corporation and many of the clubs within the Premier League have lost touch with their roots. Many fans have become disillusioned with their boyhood clubs and clubs continue to this day to take their fan base for granted.

"Premier League players have become more and more aloof from the public and fan events are now staged to such an extent that minimal if any contact is allowed between players and fans.

"This situation is not the case at Oldham. I love the fact that Oldham Athletic have managed to retain their status as a family and community club and the fans can feel much more a part of the club than some of our bigger local rivals.

"Our supporters are the lifeblood of the club, each and every one of you can have a big part in ensuring that our club starts to climb the long ladder back to reclaiming our place at the top table of football. This can be achieved without losing the spirit of our club and it is this that will drive me on in my cherished role as a Director.

"I am an ambitious and motivated individual and I would only be joining the Board if I felt I could make a difference. I will work extremely hard to achieve my aims and to fulfil the potential of our club.

"I look forward to meeting many of our supporters in person at future games and club events."
