Philliskirk: "In The Last Two Games I've Been Back To My Best."

17 April 2015

Latics forward Danny Philliskirk hopes to finish the season strongly after regaining full fitness for the final run-in.

Philliskirk was forced to miss two games earlier this month against Bristol City and Crawley after suffering with dizzy spells.

The forward explained: "It had happened a few times in the season but it never really got checked out. It happened when Deano was here and at Bradford I had to come off.

"He said that I can't play again until it is sorted and been to the doctors. They said that my blood pressure is really low and it is affecting me during games.

"If I wasn't having enough sugar during games then I would start to feel like that because I burn it off too quickly so if you've seen me in the last two weeks, I have about four sachets on the side ready for me and every 20 minutes I just take a little energy booster.

"I feel like it's helping me because in the last two games I've been back to my best."

Chesterfield visit SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow afternoon and the 24-year-old is confident of his sides chances.

"They are a very good side but we always seem to play really well against the big teams. We've played well against Bristol City, Sheffield United and other teams that are up there," he said.

"Away at Chesterfield we probably deserved to win. We played really well on the day and we have nothing to lose on the day.

"We are in a position now where we can play with freedom and hopefully express ourselves and enjoy being on the pitch. Hopefully we can string a few wins together before the end of the season."

Summing up the season, Philliskirk said: "It's been an up and down season really. There was a time where we were sitting sixth and we were in the play-offs.

"Injuries and late goals have killed us this season but it has gone very quick. Before you know it, the season will be finished and the summer goes quick as well and then we are into the start of a new season again so it has gone quick."
