We Found Freddie!

7 July 2015

Thanks to the power of social media, we have managed to track down young Oldham Athletic supporter Freddie Hulley after he sent a letter into the club wanting to be a mascot.

Yesterday, the club were alerted to a letter sent in by a young supporter wishing to be a mascot, however no contact details were attached.

This provoked the club to search for young Freddie using #FindFreddie on Twitter and Facebook.

Shared over 1,000 times on Facebook and retweeted more than 100 times on Twitter, this story touched the hearts of football supporters around the country.

This morning, the club received a phone call from his father, Paul Hulley and he revealed it was his son that wrote the letter.

Paul said: "I found out about this through a friend of mine on Facebook and he said Freddie's letter was on there and I was shocked.

"I was proud of Freddie and excited that the club wanted to hear more from Freddie. I didn't expect the reaction it has got and it's brilliant.

"Freddie is elated and made up. I didn't expect the manager, Chaddy and Jack to be here so his day has been made and I can't thank the club enough."

Freddie will now appear as a club mascot for the game against Scunthorpe United on October 10 as a birthday treat.

We wish to thank the general public for their help finding Freddie!
