Oldham Athletic Football Club are delighted to announce they are again lending their support to young people through the Prince's Trust.

Lee Hughes and Michael Pearson travelled to Dr. Kershaw's Hospice in Royton yesterday where Team Oldham 65 are preparing to turn a redundant area of land at the Hospice into a rose garden.

Athletic are offering help to local young people by taking part in the Trust's Team programme, a 12-week personal development course designed for 16-25 year-olds.

The course is delivered locally by Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale and has successfully engaged over 2,000 young people in the local area since 1998.

During the programme, Team members work on projects in the community, spend a week at a residential activity centre, undertake work placements and receive help planning for their future careers.

The club has provided a special t-shirt for each Team member and has arranged talks in association with Healthy Eating and the anti-smoking Quit It campaign. Additionally, the club has organised a training session to give each young person an insight into the life of a professional footballer.

Work placements have also been offered to some of the Prince's Trust Team Members as part of the scheme, which will have a positive impact on the lives of local young people.

Teams are run on a regular basis in the Oldham area. Further information is available at www.princes-trust.org.uk, or on 0800 842 842.
