Oldham Athletic have been involved in a highly successful attendance project which ran between January to March in conjunction with the School Attendance Improvement Service and MOTIV.

Every School from primary to secondary were set the challenge to achieve 100% attendance during this period.  Pupils who achieved this target were eligible to be awarded with a special prize from Oldham Athletic.

The special prizes were awarded were 4 complimentary tickets which included 2 adult and 2 child admissions.

As part of the Project Chaddy The Owl visited local Primary School Propps Hall to award successful pupils who had achieved 100% attendance during this period there complimentary family tickets prior to the game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

Due to the success of the project in total we awarded 2,940 individual tickets in the Rochdale Road stand for the last home game of the season against Cheltenham.

On the day the of the match the Rochdale Road end was extremely busy and it was hard to see an empty seat, which was a great sign of just how successful the initiative has been.

James Mwale of Oldham Athletic Community Trust said: "This is a great project which has successfully helped to improve pupils attitudes towards attendance.

'It's been a great incentive for our pupils and not only do we have more 100% attendees than last year but overall attendance has increased in the school."

He added: "The pupils are really proud of themselves and their achievements and it's a great initiative to be able to celebrate good school attendance."

MOTIV Director Lee Stanley commented: "We have been really pleased with the engagement of Oldham schools and their enthusiasm to promote the challenge.

"We are even helping some Oldham schools to keep up the challenge up for the remainder of the school year as it's been so popular.

"It's a great example of everyone working hard together to achieve great results."
