Dave Penney is looking for Latics' forwards to show more composure in front of goal in tomorrow's important home league game against Walsall.
Latics' manager is aware that his side wasted a number of clear-cut chances in the opening period at Swindon before they suffered a dramatic collapse and a 4-2 defeat.
Penney said: "It was a strange game and, when you look at the stats, we were excellent for 44 minutes and put Swindon on the back foot.
"What we need to do is to hit the target or at least make the keeper work because if you don't you have no chance of scoring.
"When we have chances, they are flying over the bar and going wide and we seem to be snatching at them and looking apprehensive.
"There has also been occasions when players have been in better positions and may be the ball should have been square for them to score.
"That all comes down to confidence. We have not scored enough goals which is why we have been looking anxious."
Penney admits tomorrow is an important match, especially with three tough game against promotion-chasing Colchester, Leeds and Norwich following.
"There has been four or five times when we are supposed to have must-win games. When you need three points to stay up, that is a must-win game. They are all big games and Leeds will be no bigger than tomorrow, " he explained.
Latics will be looking to avenge their 3-0 defeat at Walsall in November, though on-loan Lee Hills' first half sending off when the game was goalless, had a massive bearing on the outcome.
Walsall are unbeaten in their last four league matches and in midweek won 1-0 at Bristol Rovers.
There is also local interest in the Sadlers side which includes former Latics loanees Darren Byfield and Sam Parkin as well as Northern Ireland international Steve Jones, an Oldhamer who used to star for non-league team Chadderton.
