Latics' Ladies side are celebrating after winning promotion -- meaning they will ply their trade in the local First Division in 2008/09.

Promotion was secured with a win over Middleton Colts on Sunday, but the ladies had to do it the hard way after falling behind two minutes into the second half.

Substitute Lauren Carey levelled just minutes after coming on, and it got better when Lisa Jones jinked through the visiting defence to fire her side into the lead.

Colts replied with an equaliser of their own, but the ladies secured the three points -- and promotion -- 13 minutes from time when Yvette Brooksbank volleyed home a Jones feed.

With the current season not yet over, the ladies will now be preparing for action at a higher level next season.
