Formerly a landfill site, Sixfields is situated on a retail and entertainment park consisting of restaurants, a cinema, a bowling alley and much more. It was opened on 15th October 1994, and plans have been unveiled to further develop the site - expanding the stadium to 15,000 all-seated with bigger offices and new executive boxes, plus the possibility of a new hotel.
The away end at Sixfields is covered and all-seated, and holds 900 fans.
GETTING THERE - BY CAR
Simple. Take your preferred route to join the M1, and leave at junction 16 before following the A45 towards Northampton - the ground will appear on your right.
BY TRAIN
Be advised that Northampton train station is around two miles from the ground, so a taxi is probably advisable, although buses are another option. Visit www.thetrainline.com for information on train times.
WHERE TO PARK
There is a free car park at the ground, but fans are advised to get there early to make sure they get a spot. However, you risk a £10 fine if you park at the UGC, so it's probably best not to bother.
EATING AND DRINKING
There are plenty of eating establishments on the retail park surrounding the ground - fans can take their pick from Old Orleans, the Sports Cafe and TGI Friday's. In terms of pubs, the Magic Tower is for home supporters only, and the Sixfields Tavern does not permit visiting supporters wearing colours.
The Turnpike pub - situated on the A45 on the way to the ground - is another option.
