DUXBURY UNHAPPY WITH SHOWING
Lee Duxbury was left a disappointed man after seeing his side lose out at Shrewsbury.
The game was locked at 1-1 going into the final quarter of an hour, but quick-fire goals from Jan Coulston and Michael Symes sealed the points for the hosts.
Lee Hughes had earlier levelled things up with a neat finish after Jimmy Ryan's screamer had given the home side a half-time lead.
The result sees the second string without a point in the league, and Duxbury is focusing on individual performances as his side look to improve.
He told oldhamathletic.co.uk: "It was a disappointing result -- I'm disappointed in individuals and I need more from them.
"At the beginning of the second half there was only one team in it and I thought we'd race off with it.
"We had a few chances but then the second goal went in and heads went down. That was it then, one-way traffic.
"We should have scored a couple in the first half; Lee [Hughes] had a couple of chances he should have done better with.
"I thought it was an even match in the first half but they played the better football, though the wind played a big part.
"I told the lads at half time we needed to lift the tempo and we played the ball from back to front much quicker and created some problems with the two centre-forwards playing off the shoulder [of the opposing defenders].
"Then as soon as the second goal went in the white flag went up. Some individual performances were disappointing and those people were told so by myself and Tommy [Wright].
"We keep telling them that the best players do the simple things well -- they have a good first touch, a good weight of pass, track well and stay on the right side of their man.
"Having said that I thought Tommo [John Thompson] did well; Gary McDonald worked hard and Aaron [Chalmers] had a good game in the middle."
