City assumed a three-goal lead before Matty Wolfenden netted a consolation 17 minutes from time.

New Coventry boss Chris Coleman watched from the stands, and reserve team chief Duxbury was left pleased with his players after an encouraging performance.

"I told the lads before the game that Chris Coleman would be watching their lads for the first time and that they'd be up for it as they'd want to show him how good they are," he said.

"We set up a gameplan beforehand and to be fair to the lads they stuck for it.

"It should have been 0-0 at half time only for a mistake for the first goal.Then we've let their lad turn on the edge of the box for the second, which is a no-no at any level.

"Their third goal was a complete fluke, and we deserved our goal which came through a good finish from Wolfy [Matty Wolfenden].

"We did well both individual and as a group by keeping to the game plan I outlined before the game, and we'd perhaps not been doing that in previous games."
