Richard O'Donnell has revealed he is delighted to remain with Athletic for the remainder of the 2007/08 campaign.

The 19-year-old has made three starts in the absence of number one Mark Crossley and has impressed during his short spell in the first team.

O'Donnell -- third choice at Sheffield Wednesday -- may find himself on the bench when Huddersfield come to call with Crossley likely to start in goal.

But the youngster isn't simply prepared to sit out the season on the bench without a fight and is ready to play if required.

"I'm definitely happy to sign," he told Latics World.  "If there's a chance of me playing a few more first-team games then I'm obviously going to take that chance.

"Whether or not it'll happen depends on Mark's fitness.  I'm looking forward to pushing him if he is fit but I hope I can get more games before the end of the season.

"I've definitely been made to feel welcome here now I've had chances to train with the lads.  They're a great bunch and have welcomed me in.

"Obviously it looks like Mark will play tomorrow, but I'll prepare as if I'm playing regardless and see what happens.

"I want to push him as much as I can and hopefully I'll get my chance further down the line."
